What A Shame!

There was a time when Tony fell in love with Maria in “West Side Story“… Singing aloud in New York’s streets… Full of passion… Bringing Romeo and Juliet back to life once again… There was a time when you admired Holly in “Breakfast at Tiffany’s“… Thinking how sophisticated one can be… There was a time when you were laughing your ass off at Eliza Doolittle and her cockney slang in “My Fair Lady“… There was a time when you would learn happiness… loveliness… liveliness…

Today, they teach you something completely different… All nonsense… lifelong hatred… terror and fear… Today it’s all about the bloody wars… It’s about killing and even more killing… As if the media didn’t produce enough propaganda…

Over the last weekend, I saw three films which made me make my initial comparison… I saw the musical, “Fiddler on the Roof“, made almost 40 years ago… It was laughter, tradition, reality accompanied by messages… Being a fan of French cinema, I saw “Clara et Moi“, a French film made not too long ago… So real and pretty… It was about two normal people… It was about how something as simple as eye contact can change your life forever…

And I saw “Lions for Lambs“… A typical Hollywood film which was recently released… And boom… More wars and bullshit… Full of meaningless dialogues that make you sleep and regret the time you spend sitting in a dark theatre… Seriously… Do they think if they get well-known actors together, it makes it a good film? Who gives a damn if Robert Redford directed Mr. Cruise, whose acting hasn’t budged since “Top Gun” 20 years ago… or to my shock Meryl Streep… Out of 5 trailers before the actual movie started, 4 of them were about the war… I’m sick and tired of war news, true as it may be… It’s like you’re watching BBC News even in the cinema these days!

What a shame…

Only people that had real touch with war know what is that. It is only a shit, but people that hears about war, and have not be within a real war, often are wrong about it. They think it is about “to be hero” or braveness, courage, or so… American are in top of this list, because there was no war in their country, they always was beside the war, far from it, they did not touch it by their blood, and now, most of Europeans also forget about the world war, they are so busy in their daily life to do something about the madness that started towards new wars. There are also people that really have benefits in war. they like it, because war is their business.
