TIFF ’07 | Unfinished Stories

And I finished my festival films with “Unfinished Stories“.

Last night was the world premiere of “Unfinished Stories”, an Iranian film written and directed by Pourya Azarbayjani… A very young amateur director whose passion over 4 years resulted in making this film… It was an interesting work, considering the fact that it was his first movie and that he only made the film with the help of friends and his own drive… He was also present at the theatre and was quite excited to see his work screened for the very first time at one of the most well-known festivals in the world.

It was a series of stories about three different women who don’t know each other but somehow get related in some way on a cold night in Tehran.

In general, it was a good film, but not one of my festival’s favorites and definitely not one of my preferred Iranian films.

I’m done with the festival this year… And I’m thrilled that I got a chance to see some very good films.

Laterz…

TIFF ’07 | Cassandra’s Dream

I just got home after watching my second gala screening at the TIFF this year…

Tonight was the North American premiere of Woody Allen‘s most recent film, Cassandra’s Dream… It was a great honor to see him live at the beautiful Roy Thomson HallColin Farrell, Ewan McGregor and Hayley Atwell were also present at the theatre… Seeing them all live on stage was quite an experience…

Cassandra’s Dream was another unique job written and directed by Woody Allen… The two Brits with their sexiest accents played beautifully as Londoner brothers who are trying desperately to overcome their troubled lives… They were both shining throughout the film… Very well played indeed… The dialogues were thrilling… Made you laugh and think… Very Mr. Allen!

Tonight I will go to bed with a big smile on my face, thinking how far I will go to make my dreams come true…

TIFF ’07 | Persepolis

Nostalgia, nostalgia…

Finally someone out there illustrated (in both senses of the word) our childhood story…

The movie was so powerful… Just like the book… Nothing was exaggerated… Very simple yet REAL… Reminded me of what I had almost forgotten…

Seeing and talking to Marjane after the show was indeed a bonus 🙂 Check out pictures taken by Sam HERE
