What A Pity!

I cannot believe it. My favorite Chapters in the whole city is closed down. The one on Bloor Street.

It was a lovely day. Sunny and warm. On my break, I decided to go there to chill and that’s when I got the bad news. Apparently, they weren’t doing well and that’s why they couldn’t afford anymore to stay there. The strangest thing is that Winners is going to take over. I was talking to some people from different businesses in the area and they were all extremely pissed off. They thought the image of the area would be destroyed by this decision and consequently will affect their businesses. I’m wondering what the reaction of those high-end, snobbish boutiques was!

That’s not my concern though. I’m so going to miss that place with all the great memories.

French Connection United Kingdom

I was so close to buying a T-shirt yesterday, which was saying:

If you love something (one) let it go free
If it doesn’t come back
Who Gives a F.C.U.K
The End

It is so true and I am so going to buy it 😉

I’m now watching the final of Roland Garros (the French Open). The match is between Nadal and Puerta. What a game; Bloody hell. This is the first time since 1946 that both players are left handed and they both Rock!

Fingers Crossed

I love football. I love watching it and I am so getting ready for the match tomorrow (Iran vs. Korea). I’m hoping for a good play and some ass kicking!

God bless the friends with the Iranian satellite!

Cheers.

BLUEBEARD

I always wanted to read the poems by Sylvia Plath and this started when I saw her biography film “Sylvia” (played beautifully by Gwyneth Paltrow) last year. So I bought her book few days ago. The collection of her poems. Here is what I read today; sad but sweet:

Bluebeard

I am sending back the key
that let me into bluebeard’s study;
because he would make love to me
I am sending back the key;
in his eye’s darkroom I can see
my X-rayed heart, dissected body:
I am sending back the key
that let me into bluebeard’s study.

Will be sharing more of her poems in the future.

29

I’m 29 and here is what I read on today’s paper (The Globe and Mail):

Best age for ideas?

“Researchers investigation the achievements of thousands of innovators have established that 29 is the age at which you are most likely to have your first big, original ideas,” reports the Sunday Times of London. The age represents the optimum combination of education and energy levels required for great ideas to emerge, according to the study [by the U.S. National Bureau of Economic Research]. The findings show that for an individual to dream up a new idea, they first have to assimilate far more information than previous generations in order to add to what is already known…. It is not just ideas in science and engineering that peak at 29, either. Artistic achievement also seems to flourish at the same age.”

Thank god, I still have few more months left 😉

Sabah

Tonight was my movie night after god knows how long. I saw the film “Sabah” by Ruba Nadda at the Cumberland Cinema. It was a LOVELY film. Quite funny but real. A true love story. Sabah (played by Arsinée Khanjian) is falling in love with a very sweet Canadian guy called Stephen (played by Shawn Doyle). Sabah’s family is very traditional and is strictly sticking to their culture and values. She is confused, madly in love and doesn’t have a clue how to tell her family about her love affair. Especially to her old fashioned brother! Loved the way Ms. Khanjian plays the role; quite stunning. The soundtrack is also good, IF you are into Middle Eastern rhythms. Go and watch it, you won’t regret.

The next film on my list would definitely be Madagascar 🙂
